ACC Tourney Betting Preview: Hurricanes And Seminoles Quarterfinals
The ACC is considered by most to be the best college basketball conference in the country. Bettors routinely have a hard time picking winners in a conference that sends an average of five to seven teams a year to the NCAA Tournament. This season, the league will again send that many teams to the Big Dance, but which teams go is the surprising part. The Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes have been brought to the ACC with the hopes of building the conferences reputation in football. Over the past couple of years, however, the Hurricanes and Seminoles have shown that they can also build competitive basketball teams.Florida State has been to the NCAA Tournament several years in a row, ironically, with former Miami Coach Leonard Hamilton. The Seminoles coach again has his team headed towards the tournament, with a #16 ranking coming into the ACC Tournament this week.Miami is a different story. They have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2008, but by most accounts, this year’s team is just one win away from ending that drought. The Hurricanes smoked Georgia Tech in their ACC opener, and now face rival FSU with a spot in the tournament semi-finals on the line. The Seminoles are the betting favorites in the game, but that should not deter the Hurricanes. The last time the two teams met, it was Miami that walked off the court winners. The team that survives tonight will most likely be looking at a third match-up with Duke in the semis. The Seminoles and Hurricanes have both beaten Duke this season.North Carolina has already advanced to the conference semi-finals with a win over Maryland this afternoon. Duke will be taking on Virginia Tech, and North Carolina State and Virginia will do battle to determine the other two teams that will join Carolina and the FSU, Miami, winner, in the semis on Saturday.

How profitable is online poker?
WagerX Online Poker Reviews How profitable is online poker? Written for WagerX.com July 2008 With so many new online gamblers drifting over to the poker rooms to try and win some money, several players are asking the question; how profitable can online poker be?Poker is far different to the majority of casino games because instead of playing against the house, you are playing against the other players at the table. The house or poker rooms are obviously profiting from your play through the rake they take from each pot, but the odds of each situation will not be in favour of the house, because any money that you win or lose will not directly come from them but from your opponents. This means that poker can actually be a profitable game in the long run, whereas in other games like craps and roulette, there is no possibility that you could be a long-term winner. As with most casino games, there is an element of luck incorporated into the game of poker. However, there is also a vital element of skill that you can manipulate by the way you bet your hands. Therefore some players can make better decisions than others, and so they will be able to win more money from the game. The more you improve your skill in the game of poker, the greater opportunity you will have to win money and make profitable decisions at the table. So with the correct knowledge and ability, there is no reason why any gambler cant win money from poker on a regular basis. Now this is where the interesting question arises how much money can potentially be won from poker? The amount you can win from the game is almost limitless, as there are numerous poker pros making hundreds of thousands of dollars everyday from simply playing cards. If you dont believe me, head over to a top online poker room and check out the high stakes tables. It is not uncommon to see pots in excess of $100,000 exchanging hands at peak times.Obviously this is not ideally going to be attainable for the new players to the game, but there is no reason why this level cannot be reached over time. However, to become a successful winning poker player it takes time and effort. You will need to practice regularly and read up on good strategy. Texas Holdem is currently the most popular game as it is easy to pick up, and you should have no trouble finding good Texas Holdem strategy on the Internet and from books. By reading and learning such strategy you can improve your game and learn how make each individual decision at the table profitable. If you are new to the game and you are in full time employment making an average wage, it is perfectly feasible that after a few months of learning, you could be pulling in a couple of hundred every month to supplement your income. The only restraints from making money are the amount you have to gamble with and your ability to play well. As your ability improves, your winnings will increase. Then as your winnings increase, the amount you can play for will increase and so on. With the right amount of dedication and effort, poker could potentially be an upward spiral of success and winnings over time.

Microgaming Wins Casino Software Award
Microgaming has released a Press Release announcing a recent exciting win that the company has achieved in the online gaming world. The company is known to be the largest provider of online gaming software worldwide, and is also known to be trustworthy. It seems that not only do the online gaming operators like and appreciate Microgaming, but those who play in Microgaming powered online gambling sites do too. The award that Microgaming won is the award for best casino software from the Gambling Online Magazines Readers Choice Awards. This means that it is the readers and players who have voted Microgaming to the top spot for the best casino software award. This is the eighth time that the Readers Choice Awards has taken place, and Microgaming has now won the same award both last year and this year. Because the people, rather than the gaming industry itself, is voting for a winner, it is often felt that this collective voice should be listened to, because when it comes down to it, these are the end users who have chosen the Microgaming online gaming software provider above the other software providers. There are of course other excellent online casino software providers in the industry, however, according to popular opinion, Microgaming has come out on top again this year. The Microgaming Chief Executive Officer, Roger Raatgever, had the following to say: Microgaming prides itself on being an industry leader, and always striving to stay one step ahead in developing casino software, so we are extremely pleased to have won this award. Mr. Raatgever further noted: We work hard to not only maintain but build on our strengths in the e-gaming sector and the fact that we have won this award again is a testament to our commitment to providing unsurpassable software. The fact that we were chosen by readers makes this achievement even more satisfying as our end goal is always to create the best possible gaming experience for the players.

Review of Online Slots Microgaming Platform
Review of Online Slots (Microgaming Platform) (Part 1) Written by: BondedCasinos.com StaffDate: 23 June, 2008 Online slots games offer fair-odds payout percentages if you play at publicly traded software powered casinos. The leader in the industry is called Microgaming casino software and it is leased to many, many online casinos. The games are tamper-proof meaning no casino owner can change the payout ratio and Microgaming makes its money on leasing the games and not on the income derived from the game play so it has no reason to not provide a fair-odds payout ratio and in order to have kept its reputation as the cutting-edge software for online casino games it has every reason to assure the games are creating winners in a manner to parallel the payout rates found at land-based casinos. They provide a wide variety of slots games … many of the casinos powered by Microgaming software boast as many as 300 games … many of which are slots. Reel and video slots are available and both have an array of payline situations ranging from one payline to well over 50 … and they are continually coming out with new versions which means of course that the player never gets bored having to play the same games. The slots games all are themed and have something for almost any taste. You’ll get all the bells, whistles and excitement that one would encounter at a land-based casino. Most advantageous to the player is that if you get a hot streak .. you can change the credit values of your bets to higher numbers and never have to leave the hot machine where as at land-based casinos most of their games have a set credit value and therefore if you want to get brave and bet more … you have to switch machines. *Note that there are few land-based casino slot games which allow you to up credit values slightly but nothing like online games which can jump from $.25 cent credit values to $5 or more. Check out some of the quality casinos listed on this site and look near the bottom of the casino website and if it is powered by Microgaming there will be a logo somewhere on the page. If you would like to read more about online slots you can read the next article about progressive slots click here.

How heroic Victoria Coren It’s quite fun, this Guardian experiment. They’re having a games slot every day – bridge, chess, that sort of thing – and I’m doing the poker one. It’s aimed at the fairly new player, who might have watched a bit of poker on TV and just started playing with their friends and wants a few tips. So for the moment in the column I’m generally advocating caution and covering basics – it’s a way of trying to help people avoid losing all their money in their first few weeks or months playing the game! If the links are going up on the Hendon Mob page, I hope I don’t get a flood of people shouting at me on the forum – ‘What do you MEAN, pass A9 before the flop?’ and that kind of thing. This isn’t complex stuff to be debated by people who have already been playing for years – it’s just start-up tips and ways not to go broke. Whatever I tell the Guardian, I’d probably stick the lot in with A9 cos I came here to gamble…” Vicky… x (Vicky is sponsored by PokerStars.com.
